Introduction
The history of the Honda Motor Company began
with the vision of one man - Soichiro Honda.
His dream was personal mobility for everyone.
Soichiro Honda founded the Honda Motor Company
in 1948. In the same year, he designed and engineered
the first product of this company - a 50 cc motorised bike
on a bicycle frame - in his small shed at Hamamatsu.
Soichiro Honda Founder, Honda Motor Co
'Challenging the Limits' is a phrase commonly heard across the length and breadth of Honda. It was made popular by its founder, Soichiro Honda, who knew that his fledgling company had to out-think and out-perform its competitors every step of the way in order to survive. After all, he started out at a time when his country was devastated by war.
'Soichiro's vision' was international in character. His desire was to lead the world in technology, and make a significant contribution to the creation of a better society. As a result, most of the products that Honda developed started out by making a difference. Whether it was the CVCC engine in the sixties or the solar powered car of the nineties, they all sought to challenge and overcome conventional wisdom.
Honda Siel Cars India Limited

Plan–Do–Check–Act Cycle
Also called: PDCA, plan–do–study–act (PDSA) cycle, Deming cycle, Shewhart cycle
Description
The plan–do–check–act cycle is a four-step model for carrying out change. Just as a circle has no end, the PDCA cycle should be repeated again and again for continuous improvement.
Figure 1: Plan-do-check-act cycle
When to Use Plan-Do-Check-Act
As a model for continuous improvement.
When starting a new improvement project.
When developing a new or improved design of a process, product or service.
When defining a repetitive work process.
When planning data collection and analysis in order to verify and prioritize problems or root causes.
When implementing any change.
Plan-Do-Check-Act Procedure
1. Plan. Recognize an opportunity and plan a change.
2. Do. Test the change. Carry out a small-scale study.
3. Study. Review the test, analyze the results and identify what you’ve learned.
4. Act. Take action based on what you learned in the study step: If the change did not work, go through the cycle again with a different plan. If you were successful, incorporate what you learned from the test into wider changes. Use what you learned to plan new improvements, beginning the cycle again.
In Six Sigma programs, the PDSA cycle is called "define, measure, analyze, improve, control" (DMAIC). The iterative nature of the cycle must be explicitly added to the DMAIC procedure.
Environment
Honda has always wanted to pass on the beautiful natural environment to the next generation, and will continue its environmental conservation activities, meeting the high goals that it has set independently.
Developing Green VehiclesAt Honda, we are striving towards developing zero-emission in all our vehicles. We are the first company in Japan to meet the most recent exhaust emission regulations. To reduce the environmental burden of four-stroke engines, we have developed a unique exhaust air injection system and a programmed fuel injection (PGM- F1) (PGM-F1) system, which is currently in use in the HONDA VFR motorcycle. On the other hand, the Giorno Crea, is a new generation, environment friendly 50cc scooter that is highly fuel-efficient.
Eco-Friendly FactoryHonda's production facilities across the world also actively pursue energy-efficient methods and prevent water pollution by reducing industrial waste. Honda has taken aggressive initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of its manufacturing operations, by implementing its concept of the "Green Factory". HMSI too is actively working towards establishing an environment management system.
